Types of Clouds

In Science, we are learning about weather.  We have discussed four types of clouds:  Cumulus, Stratus, Cirrus and Cumulonimbus.  Today, we used a cloud viewer to identify other types of clouds, too!  Soon we will be creating our very own weather instruments!

First Week of School

We are having a great year in fourth grade!  The first week we began our Place Value unit in math.  We built a model of 1,000,000!  Yes, a million!!!

Also, we got to use place value charts and number disks to show one place is 10 times what it represents in the place to its right.  For example, 3 tens is 10 times more than 3 ones.

In Science we created parachutes and tested which lengths of string worked best.

We are rocking in Fourth Grade!  :)

Welcome Back to School!

I am looking forward to starting another great year in Fourth Grade!  Below are pictures of my classroom as I am getting ready for tomorrow's "Meet and Greet" with my new students and parents.  I am excited to meet them!

This is something new I am incorporating with the Engage New York Math Story of Units.  Students will place their exit ticket according to the rubric.

This is our meeting area for Number Talks, reviewing math homework and math workshop.

This is my classroom.  Our theme in fourth grade is an 80's theme, "Our Future's So Bright, We Have to Wear Shades!"
