We built one million!

In the first month of school, we have really focused on whole number place value up to the millions place.  After reading, How Much is a Million, by David M. Schwartz, we built a million!  The task came from http://bridges1.mathlearningcenter.org/media/Bridges_Gr4_OnlineSupplement/B4SUP-A3_NumPlVal_0409.pdf.  This was activity 2.  First, the students had to find 1 square.  Then, count a row, which was 10 squares.  The red square represents 10,000 squares.  Our large array is 100,000 by 100,000.
